U.S. President Donald Trump declared on Sunday (June 22, 2025) that the United States had launched a successful attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordo, Natanz, and Esfahan, including the underground uranium enrichment site at Fordo. This announcement followed Trump’s earlier statement, made just two days prior, that he was open to diplomatic talks. Trump is scheduled to address the nation at 0200 GMT (7:30 a.m. IST). The U.S. decision to join Israel’s military campaign targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure has led to this escalation.
“We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow.”
The strikes come as hostilities between Israel and Iran continue, now exceeding a week of open conflict. On Friday (June 20), the two sides exchanged fresh strikes, while European foreign ministers met with Iran’s top diplomat in Geneva to seek a resolution. However, the four-hour meeting ended without a breakthrough.
