Good news for millions of ration card holders in Chhattisgarh. The state government has proposed extending the deadline for ration distribution for the period from June to August 2025. Initially set for June 30th, the government is seeking to extend the deadline to July 20th, 2025.
The Food Department has sent a letter to the central government, following instructions from Food Minister Dayal Das Baghel. The letter cites delays in ration distribution due to the high volume of biometric transactions and the ongoing upgrade of e-POS machines. Approximately 8.1 million families in the state receive ration, requiring 34.1 million biometric transactions. Moreover, untimely rainfall in May has also disrupted the distribution process. The government believes that extending the deadline will ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive their rations without any difficulties.
