A SpiceJet passenger on a Mumbai to Bengaluru flight endured an unexpected and uncomfortable journey, spending the duration inside the aircraft’s restroom. The airline has since apologized and reportedly offered compensation. The incident unfolded on a recent flight, sparking reactions and amusement online.
The passenger was finally freed after the plane landed at Bengaluru airport when ground staff and engineers were able to open the malfunctioning toilet door. The incident took place on a flight that departed Mumbai with a two-hour delay, taking off at 2:10 AM instead of the scheduled 10:55 PM.
Shortly after takeoff, a passenger in seat 14D entered the restroom and found themselves unable to exit due to a jammed door lock. The crew attempted to assist, but were unsuccessful. To keep the passenger calm, the crew slipped a handwritten note under the door, advising them to remain seated until arrival in Bengaluru. Social media users reacted with humor to the note and the situation. The flight landed in Bengaluru around 3:45 AM. Airline engineers then opened the door. The airline expressed regret for the incident and apologized for the inconvenience.
