Renault is preparing to revitalize its Indian lineup, and a new electric vehicle (EV) hatchback, likely the Kwid EV, has been spotted undergoing testing. The Kwid EV, which might be based on the Dacia Spring EV sold internationally, was observed in Tamil Nadu. The vehicle, bearing temporary plates, suggests that Nissan and Renault are working on this project in the region. The Dacia Spring, if rebadged, could feature a 26.8 kWh battery pack, offering a range of approximately 220 km on a single charge. Alternatively, an Indianized version with localized components could be introduced for cost-effectiveness. Recent sightings reveal less camouflage, highlighting the rear lights and design elements like steel wheels and a rear wiper. The international Dacia Spring is available with varying electric motor options, including a 44 BHP base model and a 64 BHP higher-end variant. Charging times and range vary depending on the specific model. The possibility of an ICE variant also exists, considering the previous Kwid’s sales success in the hatchback segment.
