Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth, also known as Sriram, has been taken into custody by Chennai Police following a positive drug test. The arrest stems from evidence of drug use and suspicious financial transactions found on his mobile phone.
Srikanth was questioned by the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) on Monday morning. During the interrogation, he reportedly confessed to purchasing cocaine approximately 40 times, with each gram costing Rs 12,000. The investigation revealed that he spent a total of Rs 4.72 lakh on these drug purchases through Google Pay.
A blood test conducted at a government hospital confirmed the presence of narcotics, leading to his arrest under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The case came to light after the arrest of Prasad, a former AIADMK IT wing member, following a pub fight in Nungambakkam. Prasad implicated Srikanth as a regular customer during questioning. Another witness, Pradeep, also testified to seeing Srikanth using drugs at various club parties, stating that Prasad was the supplier.
Srikanth, born in Chennai to a Tamil mother and a Telugu father, was raised in Hyderabad. His career includes roles in films such as ‘Roja Kootam’, ‘Okariki Okaru’, and ‘Nanban’, as well as recent appearances in ‘Konjam Kadhal Konjam Modhal’, ‘Erracheera’, and the web series ‘Harikatha’.
