Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming film, ‘Sardaar Ji 3,’ featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, is slated for an overseas release on June 27, 2025. The release comes amidst strained relations between India and Pakistan, exacerbated by the Pahalgam terror attack. The trailer, shared by Diljit on Instagram, is geo-blocked in India, with a message stating it’s unavailable in the country. Despite this, teasers and songs are accessible to Indian users.
The film has already encountered opposition from the BJP Chitrapat Kamgar Aghaadi, which has called for a nationwide ban due to the involvement of Pakistani actors. The Union, representing film industry workers and technicians, has urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) not to approve the film, citing concerns over national sentiment and the industry’s perceived double standards in engaging with Pakistani talent. They emphasize Pakistan’s open hostility towards India and deem the continued collaboration with Pakistani artists unacceptable. This controversy follows the intensified tensions after the Pahalgam terror attack and the earlier ban on the film ‘Abir Gulaal,’ which featured Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Indian actress Vaani Kapoor. Furthermore, the government has banned Instagram accounts of several Pakistani figures, including Hania Aamir, making them inaccessible to Indian users.
