Following the arrest of actor Srikanth in connection with a narcotics case, actor Krishna from the Tamil film industry has been detained. Initially reported as absconding, Krishna’s name surfaced in the investigation and he is now in police custody. Authorities questioned Krishna for over 17 hours, examining his financial transactions, call records, and potential links to an individual associated with the AIADMK party. The inquiry began after the arrest of drug supplier Pradeep, who implicated Krishna, alleging drug supply to an IT wing member of the AIADMK.
Krishna, hailing from a prominent film family, began his career as a child artist in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Anjali’ (1990). He later appeared in films like ‘Iruvar’ and ‘The Terrorist’. After earning an MBA and working in the US, he returned to acting in his father’s film ‘Alibaba’ (2008). He is known for performances in films such as ‘Kazhugu’, ‘Yaamirukka Bayamey’, ‘Vanavarayan Vallavarayan’, ‘Pandigai’, ‘Vizhithiru’, and ‘Yakkai’, and gained recognition for his roles in ‘Maari 2’ and ‘Kazhugu 2’. His Malayalam debut film, ‘Picasso’, is currently in limbo due to the ongoing investigation.
Krishna’s personal life has also been in the public eye. He divorced in 2014 and reportedly remarried his friend Sadhviya in June 2025. Srikanth’s arrest was based on Pradeep’s testimony, which led to Krishna’s involvement. Krishna allegedly attempted to flee to Kerala but was apprehended by special police teams. The police are thoroughly investigating his financial records and contacts. The investigation revealed that Srikanth purchased cocaine for Rs 12,000 during the filming of ‘Theingarai’, as per drug supplier Prashanth’s statement. Prashanth also stated that Srikanth and Krishna consumed drugs together at multiple parties in Chennai, which is considered crucial evidence.
