With the Bihar assembly elections gaining momentum, the state has witnessed a flurry of development initiatives. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited Bihar four times between February and June of this year, inaugurating or laying the foundation for projects totaling over ₹54,400 crore across five events. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also launched numerous projects during the same period, amounting to significant investments.
Information from the Bihar government indicates that several schemes are focused on the development of Patna, with a strong emphasis on road infrastructure. Key projects include the inauguration of the final phase of the JP Ganga Path, spanning Kangan Ghat to Didarganj, costing ₹3,831 crore.
Major projects in Patna include:
* A double-decker flyover on Ashokraj Path, from Kargil Chowk to Science College, constructed at a cost of ₹422 crore. This is the first of its kind in the country.
* The Mithapur-Mahuli Elevated Road, a ₹1,105 crore project, connecting Mithapur (Bhupatipur) to Mahuli (near Punpun), spanning 8.7 km.
* The inauguration of a multi-model hub and an underground sub-way near GPO Golambar, costing ₹66.81 crore and ₹84.83 crore, respectively.
* The inauguration of the new terminal at Patna’s JP International Airport, costing ₹1,200 crore.
* The foundation stone laying and inauguration of drainage and other water supply schemes, along with building structures, totaling ₹7,166 crore.
* The inauguration of five STP plants under the Namami Gange project in Patna.
* The inauguration of a part of the new 1,117-bed building of PMC.
* The foundation stone laying and commencement of work for the new building of the Tibbi College.
* The inauguration of a six-lane bridge-cum-road over the Ganga River, from Kachchi Dargah to Vidupur, costing ₹4,988 crore.
From March to June, the total value of schemes under the double-engine government in Bihar is estimated to be over ₹84,454 crore, approximately ₹85,000 crore. These include completed projects, new initiatives, and those in the foundation laying stage. The majority of these projects are related to roads and bridges. Significant contributions include ₹48,500 crore announced by the Prime Minister during his visit to Bikramganj on May 30th and ₹5,900 crore in Siwan on June 20th.

* Transfer of ₹1,200 crore by the Chief Minister to the accounts of 3 lakh beneficiaries of the PM (Rural) Awas Yojana on March 5.
* The CM’s launch of repair work for 6,938 roads spanning 12,105 km, costing ₹8,716 crore, on May 12.
* Foundation stone laying for 48 projects worth over ₹200 crore in Begusarai by the CM on May 13.
* Foundation stone laying for an agricultural engineering college costing ₹144.72 crore in Arrah on May 19.
* The CM’s foundation stone laying for 1327 various schemes worth ₹1002 crore under the Mukhyamantri Samagra Shahri Vikas Yojana on May 20.
* A ₹342 crore scheme to restore the flow of the Ganga River from Ghansurpur to Dedaur Ghat near Lakhanpura in Bakhtiyarpur by the CM on June 9.
* Release of ₹271 crore under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana and social security pension by the Chief Minister on June 13.
