A delegation of senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders visited Naveen Patnaik in Mumbai, where he was recovering in a private room at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. This followed his shift from the ICU, indicating progress in his health.
Patnaik, the former Odisha chief minister and current leader of the opposition, had traveled to Mumbai on June 20 and underwent successful spine surgery for cervical arthritis. The surgery, which took approximately four hours, was performed two days later. The news of his surgery sparked widespread sympathy and concern among party workers and the public in Odisha, with prayers offered in temples across the state for his speedy recovery, especially given his age of 78.
His elder brother, Prem Patnaik, reported on Monday that Naveen was doing well. He mentioned a procedure on Sunday and noted that Naveen was able to walk to the bathroom independently. Prem Patnaik expressed gratitude for the well wishes and prayers, attributing his brother’s recovery to the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
