In Buxar, Bihar, a self-proclaimed tantrik was involved in a heinous act against a newlywed bride. After committing the act, he fled the scene. Upon his return, he was recognized by villagers who then subjected him to a severe beating before handing him over to the police.
The incident took place in Tiyara village, Rajpur police station area. Gopal Singh, who presented himself as a tantrik priest, used to perform faith healing rituals. He was called to Revatipur village in Ghazipur by the family of Havildar Ram for a ritual. It is alleged that on the night of June 19th, after meeting everyone, he stayed in the house. During the night, he entered the newlywed woman’s room. There, he forcibly put some medicine in her eyes and molested her. When she resisted, he also snatched her mangalsutra.
After the commotion, the family woke up, but the accused had already fled. The medicine affected the woman’s eyesight, and she had to be rushed to the hospital. On Thursday, after the incident, the woman’s family reached Tiyara village in search of the accused. Gopal Singh was spotted, but he ran and hid in a house. The villagers surrounded the house, brought him out, and apprehended him. The Dial 112 team arrived at the scene and took him to the Rajpur police station.
Rajpur Police Station Officer Gyan Prakash Singh said that during interrogation, the accused Gopal Singh confessed to his crime. Serious allegations have been made against him by the woman’s family. He will now be sent to Revatipur police station in Ghazipur district under legal procedures, where further action will be taken.
