A shocking incident has come to light involving a Chhattisgarh film actress, Jyotsna Tamrakar, who was targeted in a robbery attempt while traveling on a train. The incident occurred on the Rewa-Bilaspur Express (Train No. 18248). The actress shared details of the event in a video posted on social media.
In the video, Tamrakar recounts her journey on the night of June 19th. Around 2 AM, the train stopped outside Katni railway station. After the train departed from Katni and traveled a few kilometers, it halted at an outer signal. During this time, an assailant attempted to snatch her purse and mobile phone through the window. Failing to do so, the perpetrator punched her below the eye. After the train resumed its journey, it was discovered that other passengers in coaches S1 to S5 had also been robbed. The incident created panic among the passengers. Upon reaching Bilaspur railway station, the actress sought help from the RPF and GRP but received no immediate assistance.
Tamrakar also reported the incident to the railway helpline number 139. She reported the robbery to the authorities, but no one came to her aid. The actress waited for an hour at Bilaspur station, highlighting the absence of RPF and GRP personnel who are typically assigned to secure the train. The assailant(s) thus managed to escape.
The actress further stated that thefts also occurred in other compartments of the train, suggesting a coordinated operation. Despite promptly reporting the incident, she claims no police action was taken. She has appealed to the government and railway administration to address the matter and take stern action against the criminals. The incident raises serious questions about security on the railways.
GRP station in-charge L.P. Kashyap has stated that they have received information about the incident through social media and will gather all details before taking action. Meanwhile, Bilaspur GRP in-charge D.N. Srivastava mentioned that they had contacted the actress after receiving the information, and she had stated that she had reached Raipur and would file an FIR there.
