Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addressed soldiers in Nava Raipur, praising their valor in combating Naxalites. He acknowledged the courage and sacrifice of the Central security forces, COBRA teams, Chhattisgarh Police, and DRG. Shah stated that the security forces’ dedication in dismantling Maoist strongholds has impressed the world. Based on the forces’ confidence, he declared that Naxalism will be eradicated from the country by March 31, 2026.
Shah highlighted that Naxalism has been a major impediment to progress in impoverished tribal areas, causing the deaths or incapacitation of approximately 40,000 people over the past 35 years. He noted that Naxal violence has deprived tribal communities of essential amenities like food, electricity, education, housing, sanitation, and clean drinking water, hindering industrial development. He emphasized that the government is now focusing on bringing development to these areas by providing essential services.
Shah mentioned that the elimination of Naxalism will be a pivotal moment for the nation, akin to a second independence. He also launched a book in Nava Raipur that discusses the atrocities committed by Naxalites against tribal communities and efforts to save Bastar. The book is expected to help understand the suffering of the innocent people targeted by Naxal violence and expose those who sympathize with Naxalites in the name of human rights.
