Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the temporary campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and the i-hub in Nava Raipur via video conferencing. Shah emphasized the historic significance of modernizing the criminal justice system in Chhattisgarh, including the foundation stone laying for the permanent NFSU campus and a central forensic science lab, with a total investment of ₹268 crore. The temporary campus will offer BSc and MSc programs in Forensic Science, Cyber Security, Psychology, Digital Forensics, and professional diploma courses from the 2025-26 academic year, with an initial intake of approximately 180 students. Shah highlighted that the establishment of these institutions would strengthen modern justice and crime investigation not only in Chhattisgarh but also across central India. He mentioned that new forensic technologies like DNA fingerprinting, cyber security, and digital forensics would be accessible locally, speeding up investigations. The Home Minister also launched the i-hub, designed to connect Chhattisgarh’s youth with the startup culture, provide technical support and funding, and offer professional services like marketing and contracts. He urged young people to become entrepreneurs and contribute to the state’s industrial development. Shah further noted that the new government in Chhattisgarh has signed MoUs for investment proposals worth ₹5 lakh crore, which will boost employment, revenue, and industrial culture. He commended Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Home Minister Vijay Sharma for their decisive action against Naxalism, highlighting that security forces are actively engaging with Naxals even during the monsoon season. He appealed to the Naxals to surrender and join Chhattisgarh’s development journey. Shah stated that the permanent NFSU campus would be completed in three years, opening up vast career opportunities in the forensic field for Chhattisgarh’s youth. He assured that graduating from NFSU under the Modi government would guarantee employment. Discussing the newly implemented three criminal laws, Shah explained their goal is to ensure justice within three years and establish a modern criminal justice system based on scientific evidence. He added that forensic investigations are now mandatory for offenses with a sentence of over seven years. All police stations have been connected to the CCTNS, enabling state governments to become technically proficient in investigation and monitoring processes. Shah also mentioned that 16 NFSU campuses have been established across the country, with 10 more planned. He emphasized the crucial role of forensic technology in making India self-reliant, citing a survey that projects the global forensic technology market to reach $55 billion by 2026, with India’s share expected to grow rapidly.
