Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao participated in a mass yoga session held at the Mungeli district headquarters on International Yoga Day, June 21, 2025. He joined MLA Punnu Lal Mohle and senior district officials in the yoga practice. The district-level event, themed “Yoga Sangam, Green Yoga,” took place at the Adarsh Agricultural Produce Market premises in Mungeli. Yoga instructors Vivek Kesharwani and Purushottam Jaiswal led the practice of various yoga asanas, including pranayama.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy CM Arun Sao emphasized the crucial role of yoga in maintaining a healthy body and mind in today’s fast-paced life. He stated that a healthy, balanced, and disciplined life is achievable through yoga. He noted the increasing interest of people in yoga and urged the attendees to incorporate yoga into their daily routine for physical and mental well-being.
MLA Punnu Lal Mohle highlighted that yoga provides peace and self-satisfaction, helping individuals stay away from various diseases and disorders. He thanked the district administration for organizing a grand event on Yoga Day.
The district-level yoga event saw participation from Mungeli Zila Panchayat President Shrikant Pandey, Collector Kundan Kumar, Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel, Divisional Forest Officer Abhinav Kumar, Additional Collector Nishtha Pandey Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat Prabhakar Pandey, Mungeli Municipal President Rohit Shukla, and Vice President Jaiprakash Mishra, along with public representatives, dignitaries, and students.
Following the mass yoga session, the guests planted saplings under the “One Tree for Mother” campaign at the agricultural produce market premises. Deputy CM Arun Sao planted a Bahira sapling, promoting environmental conservation and enhancement under the theme “Water, Forest, People, a Natural Management.” He called tree plantation an innovative initiative on International Yoga Day and encouraged the public to plant more trees. MLA Punnu Lal Mohle planted a Peepal tree, and Zila Panchayat President Shrikant Pandey planted a Bahira tree, motivating people to plant trees.
