A disabled man in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, was murdered due to a land dispute. The perpetrators wrapped the body in cement, placed it in a suitcase, and then in a steel trunk before disposing of it. The police investigation revealed that the man’s wife was involved in the murder plot. After receiving reports of a body found in the DD Nagar area of Raipur, authorities began an investigation. CCTV footage identified the suspects as Ankit Upadhyay, a lawyer, and his wife. The investigation revealed that the couple plotted the murder over a land brokerage dispute involving the victim, Kishore Divyang Pakra. SSP Lal Umed Singh of Raipur stated that the initial inquiry indicated that Ankit and his wife were responsible. Ankit’s father is a retired ASI from the Chhattisgarh Police. The wife was identified from CCTV footage near the site where Pakra’s body was found. The footage showed a car entering DD Nagar on Monday, with two individuals exiting and opening the trunk to remove the trunk containing the body. The police also noted a woman on a two-wheeler following the car, with a tampered license plate. It was discovered that the deceased, Pakra, who required a wheelchair, had sold a plot in Mohadi village for 50 lakh rupees with Ankit’s assistance, but only received 20 lakh rupees less than the agreed-upon price. When Pakra demanded the remaining 20 lakh rupees, Ankit, who had been involved in brokerage, found himself in trouble. A dispute ensued over the 20 lakh rupees. Pakra threatened to file a police complaint against Ankit, who then murdered Pakra. He wrapped the body in cement, placed it in a suitcase, and then put the suitcase in a steel trunk, and dumped it in DD Nagar with his wife. Ankit, a resident of Changorabhatha, and his wife have been arrested and taken to Raipur.
