Police have arrested a lawyer, his wife, and two others in connection with the suitcase murder case in the DD Nagar police station area of Raipur. The mastermind behind the crime is lawyer Ankit Upadhyay and his wife Shivani Sharma. The couple executed the murder in a rented house in Indraprastha Colony and disposed of the body in a suitcase in a secluded area with the help of two other accomplices. According to the police, the deceased, Kishor Paikra, had given Ankit Rs 30 lakh, which the lawyer used for his personal gains. Paikra was persistently demanding the money back. Consequently, Ankit Upadhyay and his wife Shivani Sharma murdered him and disposed of the body in a trolley bag and a tin box, covering it with cement to conceal evidence. After committing the crime, the couple fled. They were apprehended at Delhi airport upon landing, thanks to the efforts of the Cyber Cell and DD Nagar police. Forensic experts collected evidence from the crime scene. An Alto car, two two-wheelers, and five mobile phones used in the crime have been seized. The accused have been sent to judicial custody.
