IIM Sambalpur, in partnership with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) and the University of Maryland, is at the forefront of Odisha’s drive toward economic transformation, emphasizing sustainability, environmental responsibility, and cultural preservation. Through the Economic Transition Coalition Odisha (ETCO), IIM Sambalpur is co-authoring a strategic plan focused on integrating jobs, growth, and sustainability within the state. A white paper published by ETCO, which incorporates the expertise of IIM Sambalpur, industry leaders, and academics, along with insights from CGS’s work on energy transition, outlines a vision for Odisha to achieve a high-income, inclusive, and net-zero economy by 2050. This plan encompasses a five-pronged strategy centered on equitable incomes, sustainable food systems, climate resilience, biodiversity preservation, and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. The framework also aims to leverage Odisha’s mineral resources and coastline to become a global green manufacturing and export hub, ensuring environmental safeguards and community engagement.
