Following raids by the Vigilance Department at the residence of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s commitment to combating the drug menace. He asserted that action would be taken against anyone involved in the drug trade, regardless of their stature.
Cheema highlighted the government’s campaign, ‘Yudh Nashe Ke Viruddh,’ emphasizing that previous administrations had failed to curb the drug problem. He stated the AAP’s resolve to eradicate drugs from Punjab and reiterated that no individual is above the law.
Bikram Singh Majithia was taken into custody by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau after searches at his Amritsar home. Ganieve Kaur Majithia, SAD MLA and wife of Bikram Singh Majithia, reported that a large group of individuals entered their home without showing any warrant or documentation. She also expressed gratitude to SAD supporters.
