A retired Border Security Force (BSF) jawan fatally shot his brother-in-law before taking his own life in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district on Thursday. The incident stemmed from a protracted family feud involving his estranged wife and her family. The 48-year-old former BSF personnel was reportedly deeply troubled by his wife’s three-month stay at her parents’ home. He accused his in-laws of manipulating his wife against him, which led to constant arguments and estrangement.
According to police, the man recorded himself before the act, detailing his marital problems and blaming his in-laws for influencing his wife’s decisions. The deceased had two children. He shot his brother-in-law in the chest with a legally owned firearm, resulting in immediate death. Subsequently, he turned the gun on himself, shooting himself in the mouth and dying instantly.
The video also revealed that the couple had frequent disagreements, including one where the man had failed to send his wife ₹15,000, indicating financial stress within the marriage. The authorities are investigating the incident and examining the content of the video message.
