Images have surfaced revealing an upcoming Xbox-branded VR headset, a collaboration between Microsoft and Meta. This headset, potentially called the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition, mirrors the design of the Meta Quest 3S, featuring an all-black design with green accents, an Xbox controller, an Elite strap, and a three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Priced at $399, the headset is rumored to launch as early as June 24, offering 128GB of storage. This move follows the announcement of the Asus ROG Xbox Ally, indicating Microsoft’s strategy of expanding the Xbox ecosystem through third-party partnerships.
The Quest 3S Xbox Edition aims to be a more affordable VR option compared to the higher-end Meta Quest 3, positioning itself competitively alongside devices like the PlayStation VR2. While not featuring exclusive VR games, it will have access to the entire Meta Quest library and Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing users to play titles directly in VR. This aligns with Meta’s Horizon OS licensing program, which included Xbox as a partner in April 2024. The partnership, hinted at since last year by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, marks a significant advancement for Xbox in the VR space.
