A cargo ship, the Morning Midas, carrying approximately 3,000 vehicles, including 800 electric vehicles (EVs), has sunk in the North Pacific Ocean after a fire. The vessel was en route to Mexico when the blaze erupted, forcing the crew to abandon ship. The incident occurred near the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, with the ship resting at a depth of over 16,000 feet. Despite the sinking, authorities reported no immediate visible pollution. Cleanup teams and equipment are on standby to address any potential environmental impact. The fire, which began about 300 miles off the Alaskan coast, severely damaged the ship before it sank. All 22 crew members were safely rescued.
