Israel has accused Iran of breaching the ceasefire agreement and has declared its intention to respond with force. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated on social media that they would react forcefully to the “severe violation of the ceasefire carried out by the Iranian regime.” This statement followed an announcement by Israel that it had accepted U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for a bilateral ceasefire with Iran. Israel expressed gratitude to President Trump and the U.S. for their support in what it described as the removal of the Iranian nuclear threat.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed Israel’s agreement to the ceasefire, citing coordination with President Trump and vowing to forcefully address any violations. Earlier, Trump had announced a “complete and total ceasefire” between Israel and Iran, which was expected to conclude the conflict after Tehran targeted American air bases in the Middle East. Trump indicated that the final exchanges were expected to occur before the deal took effect.
The conflict between the two nations commenced on June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites, known as “Operation Rising Lion.” Iran retaliated with a drone and missile campaign, “Operation True Promise 3,” targeting Israeli infrastructure. Tensions further escalated when the U.S. conducted airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities under “Operation Midnight Hammer,” leading to Iranian missile attacks on U.S. military installations in Qatar and Iraq.
