Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, has strongly criticized former US President Donald Trump’s call for Iran’s surrender. Khamenei described the demand as beyond the realm of possibility.
“The US President stated, ‘Iran must surrender.’ Needless to say, this statement is too big to come out of the US president’s mouth,” Khamenei wrote on X.
Khamenei’s remarks followed recent military actions. He declared victory after the US bombed three Iranian nuclear sites. He dismissed Trump’s claims of a “spectacular military success.” In a speech, Khamenei asserted that the US entered the conflict to save the “Zionist regime” but achieved nothing. Trump had previously asserted that the strikes “obliterated Iran’s nuclear program.”
Trump, on social media, called for “Unconditional surrender” from Iran and warned of further action if a peace agreement isn’t reached. In a White House address, Trump stated that Iran faced a choice between peace and “tragedy far greater than we’ve witnessed.” He emphasized the existence of other targets and the potential for future military action if peace efforts failed.
